Technician Career Path

Grow your career with Cleveland Brothers

Our technician job titles and skills are based on 5 levels, Technician 1 (Entry Level) through Technician 5 (Expert). Technicians can progress through the established Levels 1-5 at their own pace using an assigned Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

Each skill level consists of 5 elements:

• E-Learning (online learning)
• Instructor Led Training (ILT)
• Competency Demonstrations
• Skill Level Assessments
• Manager Review

Technician Level 1

Apprentices / Trade School Grads / Entry Level Mechanic Helpers

Technician Career Paths & Pay Progression
A Technician Level 1 is considered an early career or entry level technician.

The learners will be assigned Level 1 Individual Learning Plan in Cleveland Brothers University and begin training sessions.

While working in a Cleveland Brothers shop, they will work alongside more experienced technicians and a mentor while developing and practicing skills that are laid out in the Individual Learning Plan.

Technician Level 2

Early career with some relevant work experience

Technician Career Paths & Pay Progression By completing Level 1 you will achieve your skill-based promotion to Level 2 with a pay increase.

The learners will be assigned the Level 2 Individual Learning Plan in Cleveland Brothers University.

After the technician has completed the requirements and skills for the current level they are eligible to move on to the next level.

Technician Level 3

Experienced technicians

After completing all required tasks in the Level 2 Individual Learning Plan you will achieve your skill-based promotion to Level 3 with a pay increase.

The learner will be assigned a Level 3 Individual Learning Plan in Cleveland Brothers University.

After the technician has completed the requirements and skills for the current level they are eligible to move on to the next level.

Technician Level 4

Advanced

After completing all required tasks in the Level 3 Individual Learning Plan you will achieve your skill-based promotion to Level 4 with a pay increase..

The learner will be assigned a Level 4 Individual Learning Plan in Cleveland Brothers University.

After the technician has completed the requirements and skills for the current level they are eligible to move on to the next level.

Technician Level 5

Advanced

After completing all aspects of your assigned Individual Learning Plan for Level 4 you will achieve your skill-based promotion to Level 5 with a pay increase.

The learner will be assigned the Level 5 Individual Learning Plan in Cleveland Brothers University.

A Technician Level 5 should be able to be assigned any task or job within your division and complete/troubleshoot without assistance.

The most important aspect of a Technician Level 5 is to possess the desire and ability to mentor and effectively transfer knowledge to Technician Levels 1-3.
