Cleveland Brothers partnered with the University of Pittsburgh’s Men’s Basketball Team for the fourth year in a row to raise money for Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS. For every rebound the Panthers grabbed throughout the 2017/2018 season, Cleveland Brothers donated $5 to Live Like Lou and $5 to The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. With this money the two charities can continue to raise awareness of ALS and support scientific research to find a cure.

The Pittsburgh Panthers had a great season, collecting 48 rebounds during a game in December, and over 40 rebounds in 4 other games. In total, the Panthers successfully collected over 1,000 rebounds in 32 games. After an additional donation, Cleveland Brothers was able to donate a grand total of $12,000 for the two charities.

At the Panthers’ final regular season home game on February 24th, two checks were presented by Jeff Conte, Account Manager of Cleveland Brothers. Patrick Alexander and Tim McLaughlin accepted the $6,000 check for the Live Like Lou ALS Research Center at The University of Pittsburgh and Kirsten Hagerty from the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, along with Stacie McAllister from UPMC Health and Medical Sciences Foundation also accepted a $6,000 check.

Since 2010, Cleveland Brothers has been actively involved with various charitable opportunities to help find a cure for ALS, including hosting charity auctions and participating in ALS walks in Pittsburgh and Hershey.

Tom Kirchhoff, previous Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cleveland Brothers, lost his battle with ALS on March 10, 2015. In his remembrance, the Cleveland and Kirchhoff families strongly support all research ventures committed to finding a cure for ALS. Jay Cleveland, President and CEO of Cleveland Brothers, has been a board member of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh since 2007 and served as Chairman from 2014-2017.
