The Cleveland Brothers Gas Compression Engine Rebuild Center (ERC) was built to facilitate this shift. This world-class facility in Ebensburg, Pa., helps us to provide three critical advantages for our customers.

1. Technical Integrity through Vertical Integration

In a fragmented supply chain, quality is often diluted. Many shops outsource the most technical aspects of a rebuild, like machining, component salvage, and testing, to third parties. This creates "blind spots" in an engine’s history.

At the ERC, we operate without the need to outsource machining. Our 165,000-square-foot facility houses a full-scale machine shop and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) lab. By keeping the block, crankshaft, and other critical components under one roof, we maintain a closed-loop quality system. This allows compression technicians to have 100% confidence in the integrity of the engine, not just its outward appearance.

2. Performance Validation via Data, Not Guesswork

The field is the most expensive place to find a mistake. Some companies may rely on "static" testing, but a G3616 performing at 5,000+ bhp under load behaves differently than one idling in a shop.

We’ve invested in two engine dynamometers, with capabilities up to 8000 hp, to bridge this gap. Our process includes a full load "break-in" and testing the engine to Caterpillar specifications so we can deliver a validated power curve and ensure that when your team sets the engine on the pad, it’s tested and run ready.

3. Sustainability as a Service

As ESG reporting becomes a standard requirement for midstream companies, our engine rebuild center offers a tangible solution. Remanufacturing a G3600 block and its internal components requires up to 85% less energy than manufacturing a new engine.

Furthermore, the Ebensburg ERC is a hub for Gen 2 engine upgrades and A3-to-A4 electronic control system conversions. Integrating new technologies during a scheduled overhaul brings the engines into the current generation of performance standards and allows customers to reduce methane slip and increase horsepower without the capital expenditure and wait time for a new unit.
