Last year, Cleveland Brothers partnered with the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology (CPI) to not only create a sponsorship and job opportunity for students, but to create a brand new program offered by the school.

This new program, one of two in the nation and offered by CPI, is a two-year degree designed to train and certify students as natural gas compression technicians. This degree emphasizes work on Cat® engines and Ariel compressors, which complete the compressor package, to prepare students to work directly in the gas compression industry.

In addition to sponsoring the program and supplying some of the engines to the school, Cleveland Brothers committed to awarding students each year a sponsorship in exchange for their employment. This allows students to save up to $15,000 in tuition and gives them an opportunity to start their career with a leading company in the industry.

Each student that qualified for the sponsorship faced extensive interviews and was hand selected by a team of Cleveland Brothers Managers, consisting of Chad Weatherill, Eastern Petroleum Operations Manager, Ryan Altemus, Western Petroleum Operations Manager, and Dave Greenawalt, Employment Specialist.

After careful consideration, the sponsorship and job opportunities were awarded to and accepted by Joshua Sitch and Kevin Long. Both Sitch and Long were selected for their discipline and dedication to the program, and will make great additions to Cleveland Brothers network of Cat dealerships.

“It’s been a great program and a learning experience to get to do what you love and to be offered a position with a well-known company in the industry,” Sitch states.

Both Sitch and Long have excelled in the program and look forward to the future. “I’m thankful for the opportunity this program has given me. The past two terms have been a great experience and I can’t wait to start my career at Cleveland Brothers,” says Long.

Both Sitch and Long are top students in their class and will complete their education at CPI in May 2019.

Richard Makin, President of CPI, extends his support to Sitch and Long. “I’d like to congratulate Joshua and Kevin for their accomplishments. Equally important, I want to express appreciation for the sponsorship. We are very excited for our partnership with Cleveland Brothers and our other sponsors for this opportunity,” he said.

Cleveland Brothers shares CPI’s excitement for the new program and sponsorship awards. “We are very excited to have a program of this nature in our backyard. The Appalachia Region (consisting of the Marcellus and Utica Shale) at times is the highest gas producing region out of the seven drilling regions in the country, by producing around 26 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. With that volume comes a very high demand for gas compression and technicians that can work in the industry,” said Altemus.

Cleveland Brothers works hard to invest in the future generation of technicians, and CPI adequately prepares ready technicians year after year. “We are looking forward to having Mr. Long and Mr. Sitch join the Cleveland Brothers team and have them become leaders in the next generation of technicians,” said Altemus. “With the foundation of learning they are getting from this program at CPI, we know they have all the tools to get a great head start on becoming just that!”
