Engineering on the Engine Rebuild Center (ERC) started in March 2019 and will reach completion in 2020. The facility’s basis of design began with the underlying principles of safety for Cleveland Brothers employees. By utilizing the most efficient processes and tooling, it enables the company to produce extremely reliable engine rebuilds. Inside the 100 percent climate-controlled building, four 50-ton cranes and 42 jib cranes are housed in the main process area. The cranes are used to move the engines through the building in support of the disassembly and assembly processes. The facility also has areas to support the engine rebuild processes, a dedicated parts warehouse and a Work in Process (WIP) area.

Along with these renovations, the facility offers a component salvage area to machine blocks and cranks back to specifications using the most sophisticated machinery available. Additionally, the facility contains two water brake dynos and a low horsepower flywheel dyno for testing the rebuilt engines under full load. After an engine is rebuilt and tested, it is sent through a final wash and then painted prior to shipment.

“The new Ebensburg ERC shows how we took what was already working and expanded to make it even better for our customers,” said Vince Meinert, Vice President of Energy & Transportation. “Although we’ve been rebuilding these engines for years now, we knew we could take it a step further. We are excited for what we are capable of doing moving forward with this facility.”

The state-of-the-art ERC enables Cleveland Brothers to perform at an even higher level of service excellence. The company takes pride in delivering quality solutions as the exclusive Cat dealer for Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, and looks forward to servicing customers for decades to come at the new Ebensburg facility.
