Taking the time to learn proper maintenance of your machine’s rubber tracks is the key to your machine longevity. Whether it is your Cat® Mini Hydraulic Excavator, Multi Terrain Loader or Compact Track Loader, it is important to learn proper rubber track maintenance and to perform daily inspections before your workday. Utilize your machine’s Operation Maintenance Manual (OMM) for the exact specs on your machine model and tracks.

Keep reading to learn more tips to perform daily maintenance on rubber tracks:

Inspect rubber tracks by looking for damage or debris

Start by ensuring the machine is on level ground. It is critical to remove any wedged debris along the roller frames to prevent any irregular wear on the track. Also keep an eye out for any erosion within the tracks from time to time.

Don’t forget to examine drive sprockets

Check to see if there is any unusual wear, uneven wear or any other indications of misalignment.

Take a look at the bottom of the track rollers and idlers

You want to be sure there is no wedged debris and to remove if necessary – while also looking for any irregular wear, leaks or damage.

Maximum performance equals proper adjustment

Ensuring tracks are properly tightened will help the machine perform its best and provide less damage over time.

Before you begin your day on the job, taking a few minutes to perform these simple rubber track maintenance tips will help give the machine its best wear life over time.
