The New Cat® 950M Wheel Loader: Boosts Performance & Meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final Emissions Standards
The new Cat® 950M features the power, performance and reliability you expect from a Cat wheel loader, while meeting U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions regulations. Increased Performance and Fuel Efficiency
With a net rating of 230 horsepower, the new 950M produces 9 percent more power than its K-Series counterpart. In addition, there is more usable power at the wheels due to an 18 percent increase of peak torque for this new model. An Economy Mode is also new, which automatically senses powertrain load and adjusts engine speed and torque.
The 950M uses a five-speed Cat power-shift transmission featuring a lock-up clutch torque converter with lock-to-lock shifting, as well as the Cat single clutch speed shift system. Auto-shift features control the automatic shifting of the transmission and engagement of the lock up clutch. These two features work together to maintain a more effective and efficient torque flow through the transmission during gear changes, which is especially valuable when accelerating up ramps.
Standard on the the 950M are front axle differential locks which are manually activated by a switch on the floor, or you can choose automatic front and rear axle differential locks which require no operator intervention to activate. And for added convenience, the new machine has an external caliper disc parking brake mounted to the input shaft of the front axle. Since the parking break is external, it does not have the inefficiencies of enclosed, wet parking brakes due to brake discs running in oil nor is there any oil to change reducing fuel and maintenance costs.
Hydraulic Redesign for the New 950M Wheel Loader
The 950M’s hydraulic system has been redesigned, too. The main hydraulic valve is now a mono-block with an integrated ride control section. This design reduces weight, has 40 percent fewer leak points and is common across all M Series models. And its hydraulic system components are protected by full flow and kidney-loop filtration. There is also a new thermal bypass valve to improve hydraulic system warm-up.
Comfort for You
With this new 950M wheel loader, improving the efficiency for you, the operator, was a must. In the cab, new electro-hydraulic joystick steering is available, featuring speed-sensing force feedback for unparalleled comfort and control. A new multipurpose color touch screen display simplifies the operator interface and navigation with in-language text will enable you to modify certain machine operating parameters and monitor machine conditions with the touch of a finger.
Stair-like steps, re-positioned grab handles and a wide door opening allow you to safely enter and exit the cab. As an added bonus, an available switch in the electronic service center allows ground-level unlatching of the door, which then swings open via a gas strut. You’ll also enjoy the comfort and convenience of automatic climate control, low sound levels and a vibration-dampening cab-mounting system.
