Students from Harrisburg School District received a unique opportunity in career development

This past summer, Wendy Jackson-Dowe and the Harrisburg School District teamed up with Cleveland Brothers and Caterpillar for a week-long training camp called HEAT Camp which stands for Heavy Equipment Accelerated Training.

Over 20 students from the Harrisburg School District had an opportunity to learn about Caterpillar heavy machinery. The camp helped the young students explore what it’s like to operate a large earthmover through machine simulators and expose them to a career opportunity.

For the camp, Cleveland Brothers provided a trailer equipped with four simulators used by experienced operators for certification. Each simulator includes the same cab structure with joy sticks and pedals found in today’s Caterpillar equipment.

The students also received a guided tour of Cleveland Brothers’ service facilities.
