2016 Rebound Strong - Cleveland Brothers Helps fight ALS

For the second year , Cleveland Brothers has partnered with the University of Pittsburgh’s Men’s Basketball Team to raise money and promote awareness for Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS. During the 2015/2016 season, for every rebound the Panthers grabbed, Cleveland Brothers donated $10 to the Live Like Lou ALS Research Center at The University of Pittsburgh and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, contributing to their efforts toward raising awareness of ALS and supporting scientific research to find a cure.

The Pittsburgh Panthers had a great season, collecting 58 rebounds during a game in February, and over 50 rebounds in 3 other games. In total, the Panthers successfully  collected over 1,000 rebounds in 30 games. After an additional donation, Cleveland Brothers was able to help raise a total of $12,000 for the two charities.

Two checks were presented during halftime of the Panthers final regular season home game on  February 28th by Sean Donoghue, Sales Manager at Cleveland Brothers. Suzanne Alexander, along with her children, Abby and Patrick, accepted a $6,000 check for the Live Like Lou ALS Research Center at The University of Pittsburgh.  Joseph Warren and Bethany Sunseri were also on hand to accept a second $6,000 check for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

Since 2010, Cleveland Brothers has been actively involved with many charitable opportunities to help find a cure for ALS, including hosting charity auctions and participating in  ALS walks in Pittsburgh and Hershey.

Tom Kirchhoff, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cleveland Brothers, lost his battle with ALS March 10, 2015. In his remembrance, the Cleveland and Kirchhoff families to strongly support all research ventures committed to finding a cure for ALS. Jay Cleveland, President and CEO of Cleveland Brothers, became a board member of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2007 and was elected Chairman in 2014.
