When it comes to Cat trucks, quality is always at the top of the list. The new Cat CT660 cab is wrapped with premium aluminum alloy for extra strength and durability. With a sloped Metton hood and a large curved front window, the CT660 offers maximum visibility from the driver’s seat to the ground. For enhanced side visibility, the new vocational truck features heated and lit cowl mounted mirrors integrated with turn signals that can break away to reduce damage impact.

The front bumper and grill consist of three pieces that are riveted and bonded to reduce repair costs if impact was to occur. For added protection, the lightweight composite hood is equipped with TPO fender flairs and is designed with open and close assist strut system. The CT660 set-back axle with 116-inch and 122-inch bumper to back of cab lengths provides an extra tight turning radius for enhanced maneuvering. This truck can be custom built to fit your specifications and preferred body type; it’s available in 6×4, 8×6, 6×6, and 4×4 day cab or tractor configurations. You’ll also find two tow hooks with a standard towing capability of 120,000 lbs. For additional towing capacity, Caterpillar offers an optional draw bar pin at 150,000 lb.

For brighter visibility, the on-highway truck is equipped with composite halogen headlights and incandescent park and turning lights.

Both models feature the curved, sloped wraparound windshield, available in a one- or two-piece design, as well as large, heated, cowl-mounted power mirrors for an excellent range of vision from inside the cab. The CT680L and CT680LG are both equipped with two removable, frame-mounted tow hooks with 78,000 lb. rating. With a set-forward axle, 124-inch bumper to back of cab (BBC) and rugged exterior construction, the CT680 stands up to heavy payloads and tough applications. Cat® CT681 Vocational Truck Concrete Mixer

CT681 Exterior Features

You can expect the same high standards found in the CT660 and CT680 Cat on-highway trucks with the latest CT681. From the wraparound windshield to the heated cowl-mounted power mirrors, and down to the illuminating sealed-beam halogen headlights, the CT681 was well designed to meet the needs of owners and operators everywhere. Many compare the durability and dependability to a tank, and that’s because Caterpillar designed it to work hard and last for years.

Don’t be fooled by the comparison; this hauling machine was built to maximize payloads with a weight of about 250 pounds less than a steel cab, thanks to the lighter-weight aluminum alloy cab. This set-forward axle model features 114-inch bumper to back of cab (BBC) and 28-inch bumper to axle (BA) lengths. It’s available in 6×4 day-cab with two tow loops with 78,000 lb rating. For added convenience, the CT681 was strategically designed to improve service accessibility through easier access to key service points and an independent hood to accommodate front end components.

CT681 Interior Features

When you’re in the cab all shift long, you want comfort. With the Cat CT681, that’s what you can expect. Choose from a wide array of driver seat options, including the Cat Comfort Seat. Reduce fatigue with an ergonomically designed dashboard and center stack so you can see everything at a glance without needing to adjust or shift; plus, the leather-wrapped steering wheel is tilt- and telescopic-enabled for a more comfortable driving position.

Just like the other two models, the CT681 has a tuned cab air suspension system, premium grade sound insulation kit and durable routing and clipping wire system which results in a smoother and quieter ride. There’s plenty of room in this spacious cab for storage in the side compartments, back-panel and oversized side pockets. This well-illuminated interior combined with standard and convex mirrors improves overall safety inside the cab.

As an added bonus, Cat Product Link comes standard with the CT681 model. With the standard component, owners and operators can track machine performance and log fuel usage, costs, location history, idle time and much more. Add the Vehicle Infotainment System to set travel and routing information as well as to log miles, time and miles per gallon so you can keep accurate records for billing and tax purposes.

CAT-CT680-Engine-Performance-Power

All are Powerful Under the Hood, too

No matter which one fits your needs best, all of the Cat Vocational Trucks feature an ideal combination of power and performance under the hood. Each truck is powered by a CT Series Vocational Truck Engine, designed specifically for vocational applications, with ratings from 365-475 hp (CT660) to 410-475 hp (CT680) and 365-430 hp (CT681).

In addition, all three trucks feature power take-off (PTO) to drive engine power to your attachments — the CT660 and CT680 have rear power take-off and the CT681 has front engine power take-off — and are designed to meet emissions standards with a highly effective Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) solution, featuring upgraded in-cylinder technology and a proven after-treatment system.

Shift into Work-Mode, Automatically

Performance-matched with the CT Series Vocational Truck Engine is the Cat CX31 Automatic Transmission, designed to deliver rugged durability, fuel economy and smooth shifting for optimum power and efficiency. It features the industry’s highest power-to-weight ratio and live power take-off options with two side PTO locations and a Cat exclusive high-output rear PTO. But if you’re looking for a manual option, there are other options available including the Ultrashift® Plus Vocational Transmission built by Eaton.

Final Thoughts on the Cat CT660, CT680 and CT681
